Office 365 LogoOne of the great things about Office 365 is that you escape back-end server upgrades and maintenance. You just have to worry about keeping reasonably current on the desktop.

Office 365 customers also enjoy frequent updates with new features at no additional cost, such as the recent Microsoft increase of mailbox size and SkyDrive storage. For best experience, you may need to address certain maintenance tasks to keep up-to-date.

Respective of your environment, the following actions should be taken:

Install Office 2010 Service Pack 2
Per the Microsoft Support lifecycle policy, download Office 2010 SP2 and install by October 14, 2014 for important compatibility, security, stability and performance improvements.

Upgrade your Office 365 SharePoint Online site collections
If you haven’t already done so, click the notice on your SharePoint sites to take advantage of new features. The update takes just a few minutes and does not affect your data. Expect performance problems if you haven’t clicked the notice.

Upgrade Windows XP workstations
Windows XP support ends on April 8, 2014. Office 365 will not block connections from Windows XP after that date, but connectivity will be at risk due and users must use third-party browsers and will likely experience various other issues.
